Conference Council News

The Conference Council held its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, March 15. Along with the regular business of the Conference, the Council approved guidelines for the Local Church Revolving Loan Fund. (details in separate article).

The Unrestricted Planned Gift Allocation Policy was updated to give donors of greater than $2,500 a clearer sense of the use of the funds. 10% of the gift will go to OCWM, 20% will be used as determined by the Conference Council, and 70% will be invested in the Conference's Consolidated Investment Fund (CIF) with the annual distributions determined by the Conference's endowment spending policy and used for the general purpose of the Conference.

On recommendation from the Task Force reviewing the program, funds from the Grace Scott Fund will be continued to be used for the next five years to provide partial payment for clergy taking part in the Pastoral Leadership Groups. These groups give support to pastors. Presently these groups are run by the Pastoral Counseling Services in Manchester.

Appointed to Conference Boards and Commissions were Rev. Jed Rardin (South Church Concord) to CWA, Deborah Bonnell (Chester) to OCWM and Janet Kohlmorgen (Rindge) to CCL. Their service to the Conference is greatly appreciated.

Update Your Accessbility

The descriptions of churches on the NHCUCC website "find a church" page contain the information that each congregation has reported about its accessibility (ramps, lighting, sound systems, accessible bathrooms, large print bulletins, etc.). The information included in the description is the information that congregations submitted to a survey done by the Accessibility Committee two to three years ago.

Now the Accessibility Committee would like to remind congregations to check their description to see if the information they submitted needs updating. Remember individuals seeking a church home may be influenced by whether or not your facilities and congregation are accessible! And if your congregation did not submit data to that initial survey, please take this opportunity to add information to the Church Accessibility Update Form.

Submit your updated information to the NH Conference offices, 140 Sheep Davis Rd., Pembroke, NH 03275 or by e-mail to Deanna.
